We have spent many happy years in this wonderful home that is so cosy in winter and full of light in the summer. People will often say how welcoming it feels.

Tring has come a long way since we moved in 16 years ago. There is now a great selection of places to choose from for a casual meal, a great cup of coffee or even Michelin star-style fine dining. Everything you could ever need on an everyday basis such as the doctor, dentist, M&S, shoe repairs, hardware, chemist etc is only a short 5 -10 minute walk down the road. The Tringe Comedy Festival is now firmly noted in our annual calendars and we believe Tring`s first Literary Festival will be in November. Pendley Theatre is a short drive away. We also love the fact that we can arrive at London Euston in just 35 minutes.

Our two teenage daughters attended Berkhamsted School as that was where we were living when they started senior school but there are also a number of highly regarded schools for all ages in Tring including Tring School and the renowned Tring School of Performing Arts.

I love walking to my yoga studio and also to Tring Park which has to be one of our favourite spots to relax and unwind and breathe in the fresh air. The woodland is magical at any time of the year and there are many pathways that are perfect for a run or gentle stroll. We often go there with family and friends, or overseas guests. When the weather is fine we don`t have to go anywhere though as we always enjoy socialising in the back garden that is surrounded by beautiful mature trees. Often a red robin will pop by and say hello.

In terms of the house itself, we love the beautifully proportioned rooms and high ceilings. So much character has been retained over the years. We have made significant improvements to the front by landscaping the garden and planting a stunning magnolia tree for privacy instead of a wall. It flowers at least twice a year and loses its leaves in winter when more light is needed. We turned the downstairs cellar and original coal chute into a contemporary guest bedroom and utility room and have started replacing the windows with beautiful double glazed replicas. The bedrooms now have built-in wardrobes for better storage and the front door has been completely stripped, repainted and reappointed with quality brass fittings to make a welcoming entrance into the lovely light filled hallway. The stained glass window above the front door is exquisite.

Our dream has always been to convert the original coach house into a studio or bedroom and link it with glass to a new extended kitchen (at the moment, it makes excellent storage).

There is still so much potential to be realised in this wonderful, comfortable, light-filled home.

SITUATION
The historic small market town of Tring is surrounded by beautiful Chilterns countryside just a few miles away from routes providing excellent access to London. Tring town centre provides a range of small specialist shops, restaurants and public houses. Excellent schooling is available for all ages, including independent schools such as The Tring Park School for Performing Arts and the renowned Berkhamsted School.
